Comedian and actor Sacha Baron Cohen made £20 million last year, making him Britain’s highest-earning actor in America.
He earned more than Robert Pattinson and stars including Brad Pitt and Mark Wahlberg in a year that saw him star in hit comedy The Dictator as Admiral General Haffaz Aladeen, leader of fictional country North African Republic of Wadiya.
Mr Baron Cohen also featured in blockbuster Les Miserables as Thernardier, the drunken, good-for-nothing innkeeper satirised by the song Master of the House.
Having first gained success as spoof character Ali G, Mr Baron Cohen went on to enjoy critical acclaim with his controversial comedies Borat and Bruno.
The former member of the Habonim Dror youth movement and ex-pupil of Haberdashers’ Askes Boys’ School in Elstree, Hertfordshire, was included on the Forbes list of highest-paid actors.
He did not make the magazine's Celebrity 100 list, as he is thought to not be famous enough in the US.
