The film won four awards last night, including Best Screenplay for writer Aaron Sorkin. Its stars, Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield, were both nominated but did not win in their categories.
Other successes included The Kids Are All Right, written by Lisa Cholodenko and Stuart Blumberg, which picked up the prize for Best Comedy, and The King’s Speech, written by David Seidler. Dane Susanne Bier won for Best Foreign Language Film for In a Better World.
Actor Paul Giamatti was named as Best Actor for a Comedy for his role in the soon-to-be released film adaptation of the Mordecai Richler’s 1997 novel Barney's Version.
In the television section of the awards, Jewish actress Katey Sagel triumphed for the series Sons of Anarchy, while Glee, which stars Jewish performer Lea Michele as the main character, was chosen as Best Television Series.
