Netflix has commissioned a documentary miniseries on Alberto Nisman, the Jewish Argentine prosecutor killed while investigating the 1994 bombing of a Buenos Aires Jewish Community Centre.
The four to six part documentary, directed by Justin Webster, is set to include members of Mr Nisman’s family, as well as those present when his body was found.
A specific release date for the miniseries has not yet been confirmed.
The 1994 bombing of the Amia centre was the worst terror attack in Argentina’s history, killing 85 and wounding hundreds.
Mr Nisman was appointed special prosecutor in charge of the investigation into Amia centre attack in 2004. Two years later he accused the Iranian government of having planned the bombing and the Hezbollah terrorist group of having carried it out.
In early January 2015, the prosecutor accused the Cristina Kirchner and Héctor Timerman, Argentina’s President and Foreign Minister, of covering up for the Iranian suspects in the case.
Six days later, just hours before he was due to present his findings in front of the Argentine Congress, he was found dead with a handgun near his body and a bullet in his head.
A subsequent private investigation found that he had been murdered, rather than committing suicide as had initially been suggested by President Kirchner.
Two months ago, an official investigation by the Argentine judiciary came to the same conclusion.
In the aftermath of his murder, people close to Mr Nisman said that he had received multiple death threats during the decade he led the investigation.
Previous documentaries filmed by Justin Webster include I Will Be Murdered, the story of a Guatemalan lawyer, Rodrigo Rosenberg, who was killed in 2009.
At his funeral, a pre-recorded video of Rosenberg was played in which he told the viewers that “if you are watching this message, it is because I was assassinated by President Álvaro Colom, with help from Colom's private secretary Gustavo Alejos."
The video was then uploaded to YouTube and broadcast on national television, causing an uproar in the country.
