John Galliano's former lawyer, French Jew Stephane Zerbib, is to sue the designer for defamation.
Mr Galliano, who is set to appear in court next week on a pre-trial hearing for public insult charges, announced that in mid-April his longtime legal adviser was dismissed.
Mr Galliano's lawyer Aurelian Hamelle revealed today that he had begun legal action against Mr Zerbib for "aggravated breach of trust".
But Mr Zerbib's lawyer told AFP that he would counter-sue his former client over the accusation.
