Bulgarian football thugs attacked Israeli players and coaches during an exhibition match in Sofia on Sunday.
Ashdod players were forced to run from the pitch, into empty stands and then out of the stadium as CSKA Sofia fans attacked them with bottles, kicks and punches.
The pitch invasion in the first minute of extra time was apparently prompted by a hostile challenge on a Sofia player.
Ashdod coach Eyal Lahman was hit in the face with a broken bottle and other players reportedly received light injuries.
The Israeli team was leading 1-0 when the game was stopped.
Some Bulgarian fans were reportedly shouting antisemitic abuse at Israeli players during the game, and cheered when the Israelis fled the stadium. Security guards eventually stopped fans from pursuing the players.
Bulgarian website Sportal.bg reported that the fans became increasingly agitated by the physical nature of Ashdod's play. However, Sofia police reportedly believe that some fans had been planning to cause a disturbance during the match.
