Israel has overtaken Denmark to rank as the country with the best digital quality of life in the world.
According to the fourth annual edition of the Digital Quality of Life Index, Israel beat out 116 countries to take the top slot.
Entrants are ranked on five ‘fundamental well-being pillars’: e-government, e-infrastructure, e-security, Internet quality, and Internet affordability.
Israel achieved its prime position largely due to scoring highest in the world in the Internet affordability index.
Israel ranks 21st globally in the Internet quality index, as defined by speed, stability, and growth. While for the indexes for e-infrastructure and e-security, Israel is ranked 28th and 32nd respectively. Israel’s lowest performing index of the five is in e-government, ranking 33rd globally.
Europe remains the most dominant continent to feature in the top 10, with notable exceptions in Japan (eighth) and South Korea (10th). The United States, last year ranking fifth in the world, has this year fallen to 12th.
