Iran will host its second international Holocaust cartoon contest next month.
Artists are invited to submit work based on Shoah denial, and touching on subjects including what the organisers call oppression of Palestinians and caricatures of Benjamin Netanyahu and Hitler.
The competition’s website outlines criteria for entry including questioning why the West does not allow researchers to question Holocaust facts as part of freedom of expression.
It also attempts to link the treatment of Palestinians with the Shoah.
Organiser Shojayee Tabatabayee told reporters that 839 cartoons relating to the Holocaust had already been submitted by 312 artists for the May 9 competition.
Iranian cartoonists submitted more than 100 pieces, with 200 more coming from countries including Indonesia, Brazil, France, Turkey and China.
