Anchor suggested that the Yemeni terror group should step up its attacks and ‘fight them with all your might’

An Al-Jazeera Arabic television anchor challenged a Houthi official live on air to “crush” Israel in an all-out war instead of simply firing sporadic missiles.
In an August 25 televised interview with Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a member of the Houthi political bureau, a presenter for the Qatar-owned network asked: “If you intend to actually fight Israel, why do you fire one missile every few days? Fight them with all your might. Crush them.
“You have launched a real war against them, and you are still into it. We have seen this in the past few months. That’s fine,” he said, “but wage a real and powerful war against Israel, instead of firing a missile every few days.”
Al-Bukhaiti responded: “Let the [Arab countries] open the borders for us.
“Yemen’s military capabilities, compared to those of America and Britain, who support the Zionist entity with all types of weapons… What Yemen has is nothing compared to what the enemy has.
“However, the Arabs and the Muslims have great capabilities, but unfortunately they still use all these weapons and funds to stand by the Zionist entity. Everyone knows that certain Arab countries have intercepted our missiles and drones, as well as those of Iran. In addition, they are imposing a blockade on Yemen, and continuing their aggression since 2015.”

He continued: “Despite our suffering, we will continue to carry out our jihadi duty. Ultimately, our military operations have an impact on the Zionist entity, and if it weren’t for our operations, the situation in Gaza would have been much worse than it is today.”
The interaction was captured and translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute.
Al-Bukhaiti is described as a senior political official and spokesperson for the Shiite Muslim group, also known as Ansar Allah (Supporters of God), by the Counter Extremism Project.

The Al-Jazeera interview with al-Bukhaiti aired just three days before Israel assassinated the Houthi’s self-proclaimed Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Nasser al-Rahawi and other senior officials in an airstrike.
The Houthis, supported and financed by Iran, overthrew the internationally recognised Yemeni government in 2015 after waging a series of insurgencies for over a decade, triggering a civil war in the country that continues today.
Since October 7, 2023, the Houthis have fired hundreds of ballistic missiles, drones and cruise missiles into Israel, with one Israeli civilian killed as a result.
Several Gulf countries opposed to Iranian influence in the region, particularly those in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), have aligned themselves against the Houthis.
The United States, Canada, Israel and the Yemeni government consider the Houthis to be a terrorist group. The UK has not proscribed the group in its entirety but has imposed targeted sanctions on individuals in or associated with the group.
