Claiming back Paris with disco

articlemain

Paris's beleagured Jewish community was given an unexpected lift when Israeli singing star Gad Elbaz took to the city's streets to perform a disco version of Hava Nagila.

The rendition, which featured a klezmer band and dancers, was the singer's response to the terrorist attack on the Hyper Cacher supermarket in which four people were killed.

"We are here to strengthen the Jews of France and Europe in their spirit and pride, not with protests and cries of war but rather with drums, dance and eternal Jewish singing" Mr Elbaz said.

A clip of the performance has been posted on YouTube.
