Two Holocaust survivors were brutally attacked and beaten in their Amsterdam apartment, it has emerged.

Diana Blog, 86, suffered severe bruising and her 87-year-old husband lost his vision and had his thigh bone broken.

Both have been in rehabilitation since the attack August 4.

"I have extreme pains," said Mrs Blog.

Police are looking into whether the assault was motivated by antisemitism. No suspects have yet been apprehended.

The couple said that two men entered their apartment disguised as police officers. "They knocked loudly on the door and said, 'open up, police,'" the couple said.

Mrs Blog, who survived Auschwitz, said that she sensed something was amiss, but he husband opened the door anyway.

At that point, two men dressed in black ran in and knocked the elderly couple to the ground, kicking them repeatedly.

They then tied them up and began ripping off Mrs Blog's jewellery off her body.

Mrs Blog said: "They called us 'dirty Jews' and said: 'You don't need your jewellery anymore. You've been wearing it for too long. Now it's all ours.'"

The robbers emptied the apartment of valuables.

The Dutch Embassy in Israel told Ynet: "This is a shocking incident, a brutal robbery that affected the victims in an extreme way. Dutch police is handling this case with the utmost seriousness, and is investigating it."
