The man suspected of helping organise the Brussels airport attacks has said that the original target for the attack had been the departure area for flights to Tel Aviv.

Mohamed Abrini, who has admitted to being “the man in the hat” caught on CCTV footage before the bombing in March, also said that passengers flying to the US and Russia had been targeted.

According to reports, Abrini told a Belgian court that one of the brothers who blew himself up at Bruseels airport, Ibrahim el Bakraoui, had selected these departure areas as targets.

The terrorist attacks on Brussels airport and a metro station on March 22 left 31 people dead and over 200 people injured.
