A brother of Mohamed Merah, the Islamist extremist who killed four people at a Jewish school in Toulouse in 2012, will stand trial on terrorism offences.
Mohamed Merah killed three children and a teacher at Ohr Torah school in Toulouse in March 2012. He also killed three French paratroopers in a separate attack.
He was shot dead by police several days later in a standoff.
Merah’s brother, Abdelkhader Merah, 33, was arrested and has been in custody since March 2012 while police investigated whether Mohamed acted alone.
The Paris prosecutor’s office announced on Wednesday that Abdelkhader would stand trial on terrorism offences. He is accused of obtaining weapons and stealing a motor scooter used in the attacks. He will be tried at a special anti-terrorism court in Paris along with another man, Fettah Malki, who is accused of supplying Mohamed with a bulletproof vest and weapons before the attacks.
In February, prosecutor Francois Molins said Abdelkhader supported the "radical Islam of terrorist groups affiliated with Al Qaeda" and met his brother at "key moments" to assist him logistically.
