Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has delivered a blistering attack at the UN General Assembly on Western countries that “reward the worst antisemites on Earth” for unconditionally recognising a Palestinian state.

Namechecking the UK, Australia and France, he said these countries sent a clear message to Hamas and the world: “Murdering Jews pays off”.

He also invoked the Biblical figure Moses, along with the names of the remaining hostages held captive by Hamas in his address at the UN General Assembly in New York, following a mass walkout by delegates in protest of Israel’s conduct in Gaza.

Echoing Moses, who demanded the Pharaoh release the Jewish people from slavery, he declared at the summit in New York: “Let my people go”.
