Louis entered the Belgian parliament in 2010 as the sole representative of the populist People’s Party, from which he was expelled in 2011, both for racist statements against Roma and over claims that he sexually harassed his parliamentary assistant. Nonetheless, he remained in parliament as an independent, where he has been forging links with Islam, a party aiming to establish Sharia law in Belgium.
The Belgian League against Antisemitism is seeking to bring charges against Louis.
