Attacker shot in attempt to storm Israeli embassy in Turkey

articlemain

A man wielding a knife has reportedly been shot as he tried to storm the Israeli embassy in Ankara.

Early reports from Turkish media said that gun shots were heard around the embassy in the country's capital, Ankara, causing the embassy staff to take refuge.

Israeli officials said that an assailant had been shot and wounded as he tried to stab a security guard. They added that no one at the embassy had been hurt.

In April, Israel urged its citizens in Turkey to leave as soon as they can, after the risk of a terrorist attack targeting Israelis was raised to level one, the highest category.
