West Wing writer Aaron Sorkin is to create a television series for the HBO network about Hollywood's infamous Chateau Marmont.
Mr Sorkin, who won an Academy Award for The Social Network, is to adapt a book on the establishment written by its former co-owner.
According to the website Deadline the mini-series, which Mr Sorkin will also produce, will follow the stories of guests at the hotel from the 1930s to the present day.
Well-known for its celebrity clientele, the Chateau has hosted stars including Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand.
The project will also be executive produced by actor John Krasinski, who said of Mr Sorkin: ""I don't think there is a better writer than [him].
"The fact that he would do this project with me, is one of the highest compliments of my career."
Mr Sorkin, who has written about the entertainment world before in the show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, is also working on a series about the team behind a news programme, called More as the Story Develops.
