A woman said to have raised tens of thousands for cancer treatment has been charged with fraud amid allegations she did not have the disease.

Nicole Elkabbas, 40, of Edge End Road, Broadstairs, is accused of accepting £45,350 in donations "for an illness she allegedly did not have", Kent Police said.

The ex-JFS pupil faces six counts of fraud after an investigation by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

"She is alleged to have falsely claimed to have required treatment for cancer in order to receive donations from members of the public, between February and August 2018," a police spokesperson said.
