The British sitcom about a Jewish family's Friday night meal is to be remade for a US audience.

Friday Night Dinner , which aired earlier this year on Channel 4, followed the ups and downs of Shabbat with the eccentric Goodman family .

Created by Robert Popper and based on his experiences growing up in Edgware, the series starred Tamsin Greig and Simon Bird and received mixed reviews.

The JC described it as "a must for anyone who has spent Friday night dinners with an annoying sibling and an embarrassing dad" although admitted that its specifically Jewish content was limited.
