More than 2,000 LGBT+ Jewish people and allies held their own Pride parade in Soho this weekend after Pride in London declined to provide antisemitism awareness training for stewards.

The defiant showing took place Sunday outside Israeli restaurant Miznon on Broadwick Street with celebrations, singing, dancing, and drinks, with music from DJ Houmous.

Addressing the crowd, Israeli activist and writer Hen Mazzig said the only flag in the world that is not welcome at mainstream pride parades now is the Israeli flag, “but Jewish queers are not going to get excluded,” he said, “We’re going to be louder and prouder and stronger. They can try and push us out, but we’ll never disappear, and we’re more united than ever.”

He added, “Being Jewish at Pride is not a problem to be solved, it’s a joy to celebrate.”
