A former Yavneh pupil – and JC alumnus – who will be trying his luck in the boardroom on the forthcoming series of The Apprentice has revealed his game plan to secure £250,000 investment from business mogul Lord Alan Sugar: To be a “decent bloke”.
Lawrence Rosenberg, from Watford, attended Yavneh College before studying politics at the University of Manchester where he was president of the Jewish Society.
The public relations consultant, who set up his own firm last year, worked at The JC for a brief spell in 2021, helping to manage online events for this newspaper during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Announcing his participation in the BBC One programme – which will mark its 20th year when it returns to screens later this month – Rosenberg, 27, said he is “still pinching himself” after being selected to take part in the competition.
Posting on Instagram, Rosenberg wrote: “It’s honestly surreal...but this is the opportunity of a lifetime...I remember in my first interview they asked me about my game plan...and I basically said I just wanted to be competent and decent bloke because it’s got me this far.”
He continued: “I originally applied for the show because I think there’s a huge gap for PRs to become more visible, and I have a chance to use my voice for the new generation of media. I’m eternally grateful for the platform The Apprentice has already given me to fulfil that dream.”
The Apprentice hopeful also thanked his “incredible wife, family and friends” for their support.
Rosenberg has already forged a successful career for himself, and was named by PR industry publication PRWeek as one of its “PR and [communications] stars of the future” in 2024 when he featured on its annual list of 30 people under the age of 30 to watch.
An active member of the Jewish community, at university Rosenberg served as a campus representative for Jewish education charity Aish UK and as a leader with the Jewish youth movement the Jewish Lads’ and Girls’ Brigade. He is also captain of Beitar Bushey Football Club, which is part of the Maccabi GB Southern Football League – though when it comes to the Premier League, he is a Spurs fan, where Sugar held the position of chairman from 1991 to 2001,
The new series of The Apprentice will start on January 29.
