Rob Rinder and Rachel Riley are among the Jewish stars who will be celebrating Purim treats in a special edition BBC One cooking show.
The episode of Celebration Kitchen – a faith-based spin-off from the hugely popular Saturday Kitchen – will go out on Sunday 1 March, ahead of the holiday starting the following evening.
Barrister and television personality Rinder is set to guide host chef Matt Tebbutt through the traditions of the festival.
Countdown presenter Rachel Riley is among the Jewish guest stars sharing their family traditions, along with Elliot Levey, double Olivier-winning star of Bookish and Giant, and Crazy, Sexy Food podcaster Hannah Harley Young.
They will be joined in the kitchen by food influencer Ben Rebuck, chef Lilian Cordell and Mediterranean food expert Eran Tibi, all cooking Purim dishes.
Rinder told the JC that it is going to be “a wonderful show”.
Last year, he wrote about his love of Purim as his favourite Jewish festival, saying in the week before it that his “dreams had been filled with hamantaschen,” adding: “Just to be clear, I mean the divinely squidgy ones with hundreds and thousands, not those claggy biscuit-y ones that taste like data entry.”
Recalling the pleasure of drinking alcohol as youngster at Purim time, he said: “On entering my teens, I also took advantage of the liberal rules on drinking and enjoyed the weirdly taboo feeling of getting a little shicker on vodka.”
The Purim special for Celebration Kitchen is scheduled for 11.30am, Sunday 1 March on BBC One and will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
