Prime Minister offers ‘deepest sympathies’ to Rabbi Lord Sacks’ family in House of Commons

Boris Johnson has paid tribute to Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks at the start of  Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister said: “I know the whole House will want to join me in sending our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks who sadly passed away on Saturday.

“His leadership had a profound effect on our whole country and across the world. May his memory be a blessing.”

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said he “joined” Mr Johnson in passing on his own symapathies to the family of the esteemed former Chief Rabbi.

Later during PMQs Scottish Nationalist Party leader Ian Blackford said he wished to “associate himself” with remarks of the Prime Minister regarding Rabbi Sacks’ passing.
