It was extraordinary chutzpah even by the standards of The Apprentice – asking Lord Sugar to raise the winning prize from £250,000 to £5.5million.
Lawrence Rosenberg’s outrageous request saw him booted off the show in last night’s penultimate episode, but the former JC employee still believes he’s a winner – thanks to wife Lydia.
Speaking to the JC, the 29-year-old said he has already “won the role of being husband to the most perfect human imaginable,” after their wedding last year shortly before filming began on the series.
“She is the one who deserves all the credit. I'm just the bloke in an egg costume,” he added, referring to his get-up in episode three.
He added: “She is the person who has continuously supported me through every stage of the most difficult process out there and beyond.”

The former Yavneh College pupil made it through to become one of the final five candidates after a marathon run on the show, only to be knocked out before the two finalists were selected.
Crediting his success to Lydia, he said: “Her strength, kindness and belief in me is the reason I somehow made it to fourth place out of 80,000 applicants on one of Britain’s most iconic TV shows.”

Rosenberg worked at the JC for a short stint in 2021. His run on the show now has given Rosenberg a level of fame, and he is regularly recognised on the street, particularly in Jewish areas.
He said: “It is really funny... I don't really have the ego to go with it. Even when I can tell that people are sort of looking at me, it doesn't really click. I don’t feel like I am someone people would be looking at, but I have been on the tele now and they are.
“I got stopped four times and asked for pictures in Tesco the other day.
“I genuinely believe that you should be happy that people want to see you and are happy. It's lovely to have that opportunity to make people smile.
“I do get approached more in Jewishy areas such as Edgware and Golders Green.”
Speaking about the support he has received throughout from the Jewish community, he said: “I’m super grateful. I’ve received so much. I’ve actually been really overwhelmed by it.
“I keep being told by people that their mums and their dads who have never watched The Apprentice or haven't watched it for years watched this series because there was a Jewish candidate. These are people I’ve never met before but they say how great it is to see someone of their background on the show.”

“It was an unbelievable experience being on the show,” Rosenberg said. “I think the biggest prize of being on it is gaining access to Lord Sugar’s network.”
In his own words, he just wanted to be a “nice chap” on The Apprentice but his chutzpah also came out in last night’s episode.
Launching his proposed AI public relations platform would be a costly affair, and so he asked Sugar’s advisers if the investment for the prize-winner could be raised from £250,000 to £5.5m. After a fiery reaction, he retreated to saying he could launch with £250,000 with a more gradual build, but soon afterwards he learned his time on the show was up.
Rosenberg has made it clear throughout that he never wanted to be seen as a representative “of” the Jewish community, but a representative “from it”.
Looking to the future, he said: “Since the show I’ve launched my business Rosenberg Media, and had endless doors open thanks to my journey to the final five.
“It really has paved the way for my next steps in the business world.”
He added: “But none of that comes before Lydia.”
