Counter-terrorism officers are investigating three separate acts of arson, including the fire-bombing of Hatzola ambulances in Golders Green and this week’s attempt to set fire to Finchley Reform Synagogue, the Metropolitan Police have announced.
Investigators are also looking into an attack last night on the northwest London offices of Persian-language dissident media outlet Iran International.
Four Jewish community volunteer ambulances were left burnt out in the attack on 23 March.
Police this morning made two new arrests in the case, of two men both aged 18 at separate addresses in east London.
One man was arrested on suspicion of committing arson with intent to endanger life, and the other on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. Both have been taken into custody in a London police station.
It comes after three other people have already been charged in connection with the attack.
The attempted arson attack on Finchley Reform Synagogue shortly after midnight on Wednesday has led to two arrests.
Three men have been arrested over the attempted attack on Iran International.
The Met said: “Due to the nature and circumstances of the three incidents, they are all now being investigated by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London.
“None of the incidents have been declared as terrorist incidents, and officers retain an open mind in respect of any motivation behind any of the attacks.
“While all three incidents are being treated as separate incidents, the similarity with all three being arsons, and the nature of the buildings and locations of the incidents has been factored into to the decision for CTP London to investigate all three incidents.”
