Anthony Julius to chair JC board

articlemain

The lawyer and writer Anthony Julius has been appointed chairman of the Jewish Chronicle.

Mr Julius, deputy chairman of solicitors Mishcon de Reya, is also a noted author who has written extensively on law, literature, art, culture and antisemitism.

His book, Trials of the Diaspora: A History of Anti-Semitism in England was published last year.

He said of his appointment: "I am honoured. The JC is the most respected Jewish publication, not just in the UK, but in Europe.

"I am looking forward to making my contribution to ensure its continued success."

Mr Julius will continue in his role at Mishcon de Reya but will step down from his other communal positions.

Two other board appointments have also been announced: Tracy Abraham, head of digital media marketing and communications with Channel 4, and Paul Mann, head of UK private banking with Bank Hapoalim.

Their appointment follows the retirement as non-executive directors of Richard Bolchover, Julia Chain and Danny Kessler.

Alan Rubenstein, managing director of the JC, said: "I would like to thank Richard, Julia and Danny for all of their hard work on the JC board, and for their total dedication to the paper over the past six years."
