Two teenagers have been charged with the racially-aggravated assault of a senior rabbi, who was attacked last month in Stamford Hill.

The two male teenagers, aged 14 and 15, handed themselves in early on Tuesday morning after the police released CCTV images of them, the Metropolitan Police said.

They are due to appear at Stratford Youth Court on January 7, 2020.

The 54-year-old rabbi – who has since flown back to Israel – was left bleeding and lying on the ground after the incident, which took place around 9.45pm on November 29, during Shabbat, as the victim walked in Amhurst Park in Clapton.

Writing on Facebook after the attack, Stamford Hill Rabbi Herschel Gluck, who is president of Shomrim in Stamford Hill said the victim had been “beaten up in a totally unprovoked attack”.
