Tory party candidate deletes tweets about Anne Frank

George Stoakley, who is running in Fenn Ditton and Fulbourn in South East Cambridgeshire, posted the tweets in 2013. He has been suspended.

A Conservative Party candidate in the local elections has deleted offensive tweets referencing Anne Frank.

George Stoakley, who is running in Fenn Ditton and Fulbourn in South East Cambridgeshire, posted the tweets in 2013.

In one tweet which is believed to refer to Anne Frank and her family having to hide from the Nazis in Amsterdam, he wrote; “sweating like a Jew in an attic.”

He has deleted the tweet along with several other offensive messages and made his profile private.

The 23-year-old would-be politician also tweeted offensively about HIV/AIDS.

He wrote: “Some people call it aids [sic], I just call it weaponised semen.”

Mr Stoakley also promoted the idea of loosening the UK's strict firearms laws.

He wrote in 2013: “Am I the only person who believes the UK should legalise handguns?"

Lord Polak, Conservative Friends of Israel president, and James Gurd, CFI executive director, said: "George Stoakley’s historic tweets are reprehensible and unequivocally antisemitic.

"There must be no place for such vile views in the Conservative Party or anywhere in our society, and we applaud the Conservative Party for taking such swift action in suspending him”.

A Conservative spokesman told the JC: "George Stoakley has been suspended and an investigation is underway".
