Social media site has received several complaints about the clip

An openly antisemitic video attempting to poke fun at the tattoos given to Jews and other prisoners inside the Nazi death camps has received over 600,000 views on the social media platform TikTok.

The clip is accompanied by the song No Scrubs by pop group TLC - which played no part in the creation of the video - and the lyric "No I don’t want your number" can be heard as a man gets into a taxi cab under the subtitle "Jewish guy getting in my taxi."

The passenger is then asked for his name by the driver – before another subtitle  states, "Rolls up sleeve to check".

He then proceeds to roll up his right sleeve to look at what is suggested to be the tattoo.

The driver is then shown mouthing the words "No I don’t want your number’’ as the pop song is played at the same time.

During the Holocaust the Nazis tattooed serial numbers onto the arms of inmates in order to identify the bodies of registered prisoners who had died.

The video was uploaded onto TikTok – which is hugely popular among young social media users – by a man named Bradley Brooker, from Maidstone, Kent.

The JC understands that TikTok have received numerous complaints about the video since it was uploaded on April 28.

But the latest figures show it has been viewed 606,000 times and has been liked 63,000 times.

Some of the comments beneath the video include the claim; "This is good dark humour.’’  Another comment says: "Finally some quality content," while another asks "Why did I laugh?’’

TikTok is a video-sharing social networking service owned by ByteDance, a Chinese company founded in 2012 by Zhang Yiming.

On 9 November 2017, TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, spent up to $1 billion to purchase musical.ly, a startup based in Shanghai with an office in Santa Monica, California.

Mr Brooker said on Monday: "If you read through the comments on the video there have been Jewish people finding the funny side to it. It’s not me hating a religion – it’s just a joke.’’

The JC has contacted TikTok about the video and its continued circulation.
