Richard Desmond to step down as Norwood president

articlemain

Richard Desmond is to stand down as president of Norwood at the end of March after more than eight years in the role.

The children and families charity has grown significantly during Mr Desmond’s tenure and now supports 7,000 people.

He has also been instrumental in Norwood fundraising and engaging celebrities and politicians in its work.

Mr Desmond said: “My connection with Norwood dates back to my youth and I’ve been particularly honoured to serve the charity as its president since 2006.

"I’ve seen first-hand how Norwood transforms people’s lives, young and old, and how its efforts can truly capture the imagination. I wish all the hard-working staff and trustees the very best for the future and have no doubt I’ll continue to stay connected.”

Norwood chair David Ereira said the charity’s growth in recent times “owes a great deal to Richard. Our trustees, staff and service users are extremely grateful for his many years of tireless efforts on their behalf and we look forward to him continuing as a well-loved friend of Norwood for many years to come.”
