A Labour member who chaired her local party until July has been suspended over a series of antisemitic conspiracy theory and Holocaust denial posts.

Mollie Collins, who chaired South Dorset Constituency Labour Party and also has a seat on Labour’s South West Regional Board, was revealed to have shared antisemitic articles and posts on her Facebook profile by Twitter account GnasherJew.

The posts included an article headlined “how the ‘Holocaust’ was faked”, while another claimed that the Rothschilds had crashed Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

She also shared posts that claimed that the BBC was “now run by Zionists” and was “the mouthpiece for Zionist Israel”, and that “ISIS is working on Mossad/CIA/MI6 Plan to Create Greater Israel”.

Other posts Ms Collins shared suggested Hillary Clinton “works for Rothschilds” and “is illuminati”, and that the Rothschilds were a “Zionist mafia”.

She also reposted conspiracy theories that claimed 9/11 was an "inside job".

In an email, Ms Collins told the JC that she had "never encountered anti semitism in the Labour or amongst my friends.

"I am shocked and disappointed that there seems to be another campaign to discredit not just myself but other CLP officers.

"In my working career in the film industry I worked with, for and dined with many Jewish producers, directors and entrepreneurs.

"My sisters [sic] best friend married a nephew of Jack Cohen of Tesco, attending my wedding and I attended theirs."

Ms Collins claimed she had shared the articles to "create an interesting discussion" rather than to express her own opinions.

She also stood to be a councillor in Dorset this year, but was not elected.

A Labour spokesperson confirmed Ms Collins was suspended pending an investigation.

They said: “The Labour Party takes all complaints of antisemitism extremely seriously, which are fully investigated in line with our rules and procedures and any appropriate disciplinary action is taken.

"We cannot comment on individual cases.”
