Angela Rayner, the shadow Education Secretary, will appear at the Board of Deputies’s annual Chanukah reception, the JC can reveal.

Mrs Rayner, who has served in Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow cabinet since January 2016, will appear at the December 3 event alongside Liberal Democrat leader Sir Vince Cable; Ian Blackford, the SNP’s Westminster leader; and a “senior cabinet minister”.

It will be jointly held with the all-party Parliamentary group on British Jews at the House of Lords.

It follows the appearance of Emily Thornberry, Labour’s shadow Foreign Secretary, at the Board’s annual fundraising dinner earlier this month.

Ms Thornberry will also appear at this year’s Limmud Festival.
