The UK Jewish Film Festival drew to a close this week, with the screening of Hello Goodbye and the presentation of The Shoresh Charitable Prize.

Israeli comedy A Matter of Size together with documentary film ‘Praying with Lior’ have won the award, which was voted by the festival audiences.

Judy Ironside, Festival Director, said: “As this has been our strongest programme so far, the choice this year was very tough. However, we thought that A Matter of Size, together with Praying with Lior, were particularly special when we programmed them and I am very happy that our audiences agreed with us and decided to give it their vote.”

The festival, this year celebrating its ‘Barmitzvah’ year, featured a record-breaking 65 films at 14 venues, including a special preview of A Serious Man.

The new film by the Coen brothers, which they have called their ‘Jewish masterpiece’, was the best attended film of the festival, attracting an audience of 700 people.

From January to April 2010, the UKJFF will tour 15 cities across the UK, to give audiences a taster of the films on offer, and will also have a slot at the Limmud conference in Warwick.

A spokeswoman for the UKJFF said: “The tour programme to be confirmed, but we hope to include our audience award prize winning films. We will be screening 10 films at Limmud this December and many of the films will features panel discussions.”
