OUTBREAK
The number of Jewish people in Britain who have died from coronavirus has climbed to 335, according to the latest figures from the Board of Deputies on Friday – up from the 326 confirmed on Thursday.
The Board’s statistics are compiled from details provided by Jewish burial societies across the community where the death certificate records coronavirus.
These cover both deaths in hospital and in the wider community.
National figures of coronavirus deaths published daily by Public Health England and Pubic Health Wales cover only deaths in hospital.
But weekly data released by the Office of National Statistics have a wider reach, including all deaths listed as caused by coronavirus.
The Board's data comes from the four main Orthodox burial boards in London, two national non-Orthodox burial societies and Orthodox burial boards in Manchester.
