A Jewish recruitment director has been lauded for bringing a smile to people’s faces during the pandemic by performing free magic shows.
Lawrence Bond, founder of the Borehamwood-based recruitment agency BondMoran, began uploading videos of himself performing magic to LinkedIn during lockdown.
As a young adult he enjoyed spending time perfecting card tricks and performing as an amateur magician. So, when the pandemic struck and Britons were confined to their homes, the recruitment specialist decided to brush up on his skills and upload some videos online.
The magic show clips quickly became a hit and clients even began asking Mr Bond to perform for their staff, friends and family.
Mr Bond said: “I saw making videos as an opportunity to bring people together.
“I try to make sure that everyone enjoys themselves and I try to leave everyone either mystified, or more importantly, having had a good time, whether it’s through my silly jokes, or the tricks.
“It felt right just to put a few smiles on people’s faces. This isn’t a revenue generator – I’m not charging for what I’m doing. But it has built such a lovely community and some new business too.”
Mr Bond has now uploaded around 150 magic trick clips to LinkedIn. His ‘magic Fridays’ video series has amassed thousands of views and comments from audiences across the globe.
The recruitment director’s children even feature in the videos as magician’s assistants.
Mr Bond added: “It’s 10 or 15 minutes of my life performing for people so I’m always happy to help. I’ll jump on a call and do some magic to cheer people up.
“I’ve done so for scouts, relatives and dozens of companies. I try and involve as many people as I can.”
