Goldie to shine in first movie since 2002

Goldie Hawn is set to star in her first film for 15 years, playing an overbearing mother to Amy Schumer’s single thirtysomething daughter in Snatched.

After being dumped by her boyfriend, Emily (played by Ms Schumer) decides to take a long-planned holiday anyway, going with her mother (Ms Hawn) instead.

Emily and her mum have a difficult relationship. However, when the pair get kidnapped by armed bandits, the two of them have to work together to escape and make their way out of the jungle where they have been taken.

Ms Schumer told the Los Angeles Times that she had first met the Private Benjamin star on a plane.

“I told her there’s a movie I really want to make with her,” she said.

“And she was very nice. ‘OK, honey’. She probably thought I was a psycho. ‘OK, crazy person’.

“Then I’d meet her at different things, saying, ‘We’re making this movie together,’ and I think, eventually, some people got in her ear and told her I wasn’t crazy, that I make things.”

"She [Ms Schumer] is thoughtful. She approaches her comedy in a way that really is a bit like an equation," Ms Hawn told Entertainment Tonight. "[She's a] great collaborator. I just had a ball with her."

The film, which also features Ike Barinholtz as Ms Schumer’s brother, and is being directed by Jonathan Levine, is advertised for release over the Mother’s Day weekend. In America, that is the second week of May, rather than March 26 as it is in the UK.
