Roy Keane, the former Manchester United and Ireland footballer, has been linked with the Israeli national team manager job ahead of the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.

Keane, who turns 46 today, is currently the Republic of Ireland’s assistant manager under Martin O’Neill, with the side currently sitting in second place in their qualifying group for the 2018 World Cup.

But Israeli media group ONE has reported that Keane, who won 17 major trophies with Manchester United, is being considered, although a formal approach has not been made.

Israel, currently managed by Elisha Levy, are seven points behind Spain and Italy in their qualifying group for next year’s World Cup, meaning they face an uphill battle to make it to the tournament, to be held in Russia.

Keane’s last managerial role, with Ipswich Town, ended in his dismissal more than six years ago, after a two-year stint with Sunderland previously.
