The new Star Wars spin off, Solo: A Star Wars Story, premieres here next week, starring Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo.

The Jewish actor, known for his roles in the Coen Brothers’ “Hail Caesar” and Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine”, has siad that the most difficult part of the film wasn't the making of it - but the waiting.

It's been two years since it was announced he would take on the iconic role of Han Solo, first made famous by Harrison Ford in 1977.

"It's been tough dealing with all the secrecy, so it feels good that the film is finally getting out. It's a nice thing to be able to give the movie to everyone after all the buildup," Ehrenreich said. "I did my first movie when I was 18 and so I've had about 10 years of slowly, gradually getting used to this side of the business. There's not this part of training in acting school."

And really the waiting started earlier for Ehrenreich who has been a Star Wars fan since he was a child. "I had all the action figures and a green lightsaber. Of all the action figures, I have to say my favourite would have been Luke and Han. I would pretend to be both of them,"  He told Stuff . "I grew up watching the movies and loving the movies and the character in particular. It's a real treat to be invited into that world."

Luckily for Ehrenreich he already has one fan - Harrison Ford. “I just thought it was spectacular,” Ford told Entertainment Tonight when he surprised the actor after a Star Wars press conference . “I thought he was so smart about what he did and how he did it. I just couldn’t be happier.”
