Transport secretary Grant Shapps has been spotted walking into 10 Downing Street as speculation swirls about the future of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

After a tense and chaotic day in Westminster which saw over 35 resignations from his government, Boris Johnson faced both Keir Starmer as well as the Liasion Committee, assuring both that he would not be resigning.

In a relentless two-hour interrogation, MPs on the committee repeatedly asked the Prime Minister questions relating to his political future.

Time and time again, Johnson appeared defiant, refusing to be drawn on questions about how many cabinet ministers still backed him after today's wave of resignations.

As the Prime Minister was questioned in Portcullis House, reports began to surface about a delegation of senior cabinet ministers waiting for the PM in Downing Street to tell him to resign.

Among the group of ministers is believed to be new Chancellor of the Exchequer Nadhim Zahawi, Education Secretary Michelle Donelan as well as Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.

Grant Shapps, the most senior Jewish politician in the cabinet, has long been one of Johnsons' staunchest allies and was a frequent fixture on news channels defending government decisions.

Another prominent Jewish political figure that has called on the PM to resign was Chair of the Education Committee Robert Halfon, as well as Finchley MP Mike Freer, who resigned his government post this afternoon.
