Rishi Sunak has visited a succah outside the Conservative party conference to mark Succot.

The prime minister stepped outside into the Manchester rain to meet Board of Deputies representatives in their succah. It was erected for the four-day event.

Protected by an aide holding an umbrella over his head, Sunak was photographed with Board president Marie van der Zyl.

He shook the lulav and brandished an etrog during the visit on Tuesday.

Writing on X/Twitter, the Board said: "We were delighted to be visited at our [Conservative Party Conference 2023] Sukkah this morning by Prime Minister @RishiSunak. Wishing you all a Chag Sameach!"

A string of other Conservative party figures have also visited the succah including deputy party chairman Nickie Aitken, peer Daniel Finkelstein and policing minister Chris Philp.

The Board said they were "delighted" to welcome them.
