Officer hailed for confronting anti-lockdown protesters also allegedly mocked 9/11 in messages in a Twitter account run under a different name
August 8, 2021 13:32A Muslim Metropolitan Policewoman praised for confronting anti-lockdown protesters last year is under investigation over claims that she has tweeted antisemitic and other offensive comments.
The Mail on Sunday has reported that the woman joined the force in 2016 - and that she had run a Twitter account under a different name since 2012, posting some 25,000 messages.
Most of the messages from the now deleted account were said to be mundane. But according to the MoS, during the 2014 Gaza conflict, the constable allegedly wrote: “Dirty Zionist. Jahannam [hell] is awaiting.” Another read: “Israel have no limits. Scumbags. I can't wait for the day they get severely punished.”
Later that year, she is said to have tweeted: “Zionists have no hearts! They'll get what's coming to them subhanallah [glory be to God].”
Apparently linking the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to the Holocaust, she reportedly wrote in January 2015: “It's alright when Israel does it #HolocaustRemembranceDay.”
On September 11, 2019, the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, she reportedly tweeted: "Omg [O my God] it's 9/11 today? Jokes, I only noticed."
On the same anniversary in 2014, she is said to have written: "Must be stupid if you think I'm gonna do 2 mins silence for 9/11."
The Met said there was no place in the force “for any racist, homophobic or otherwise hateful attitudes. Officers and staff can expect robust action should they be found to hold or express such views.”
The allegations were being treated “very seriously” and the officer had been placed on restricted duties while the Directorate of Professional Standards conducted “a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances behind the social media posts”.
