If you read the Social and Personal column in last week’s JC , you might have seen that the Goldsmiths – Luciana and Alistair - were celebrating the arrival of their first child, a baby girl.
The couple were delighted to announce that little Amelie Moselle had been born on March 13, much to the joy of grandparents Antonia and Howard, and Jane and Stuart.
But sharp-eyed readers would have noticed a reference (tucked away in brackets) to Mrs Goldsmith’s maiden name – Berger – and would have realised that the new mother was Luciana Berger - one of the country’s most prominent Jewish MPs, the Labour representative for Liverpool Wavertree and a former member of Jeremy Corbyn’s Shadow Cabinet.
In a tweet which included a photo of baby Amelie Moselle, Ms Berger said the couple – who were married in Liverpool’s Princes Road Synagogue in 2015 - were “over the moon”.
So happy our daughter, Amélie Moselle, arrived into the world on 13.03. Alistair & I are over the moon. 👶✨🌈 pic.twitter.com/OX8Soy4ske
