Two of the best known actresses in Jewish showbusiness are to share a stage in London later this year.
Maureen Lipman and Tracy-Ann Oberman are to star in a play about a widowed woman whose life changes after a conversation with a stripper.
The pair will appear in the Hampstead Theatre’s production of Old Money by Sarah Wooley.
The play, which will be directed by Robin Lefevre, follows the life of a woman who has always kept to her required domestic and wifely role, after she is “released from a life of conformity”.
“Forty years of respectable marriage should have prepared Joyce for respectable widowhood,” said the Hampstead Theatre of the play. “She, however, has other ideas – and a secret life of champagne, strippers, and chance encounters unfolds in this tender comedy.”
The play will open in November.
