A leading solicitor has avoided jail over headbutting the father of an EastEnders star.

Philip Saunders, 69, who is Jewish, attacked property developer Mohammad Reza Ghadami on April 7 last year, breaking his nose. The incident followed an exchange of words at the High Court where the pair were involved in a £100 million legal battle. Saunders claimed Mr Ghadami directed antisemitic abuse at him.

CCTV footage showed the two men talking on the first floor landing of the Rolls Building at the Royal Courts of Justice before Mr Ghadami, 62, swung his briefcase between Saunders’s legs to move him out of the way.

Saunders, a married father of three, could be seen taking a step back before headbutting Mr Ghadami, who went to get help with blood streaming from his face.
