The JC understands that following an intervention from Sir Keir Starmer’s office, the Wirral West MP wrote after deleting the article: “I understand that some people have found this offensive. I want to be clear I had no intention to cause offence and so have removed the tweet. Wishing everyone a safe & peaceful weekend.”
The Board of Deputies were among those to express concern over “the worrying post shared and then deleted” by Ms Greenwood.
They said they planned to raise the issue at a meeting with the Labour leader next week.
The Board also issued a statement on the dossier of 11 cases of alleged antisemitic conduct by Labour members “we consider to merit expulsion”.
In a statement, Labour said they had “acted swiftly” on the information that was provided on “seven individuals who are currently members.’’
The party added: “A range of actions have already been taken in line with our rules and procedures including exclusions and supsensions pending further investigation.’’
