Could another Jewish impressionist be following in the footsteps of Francine Lewis, who made the final of Britain’s Got Talent four years ago?

In her audition for the ITV show at the weekend, Jess Robinson, 33, from north London, had three of the judges and much of the audience on their feet, channelling Katherine Jenkins and Cheryl in between barnstorming versions of Shirley Bassey and Liza Minnelli.

Ms Robinson, whose credits include the satirical ITV animation show Newzoids, said: “it would be wonderful if my grandmother could see me on the Royal Variety Show” (the prize for winning the contest).

Her grandmother, Rosie Ruben, 101, was a music teacher in Germany, who accompanied children on the last Kindertransport. Her late grandfather, Jules Ruben, a jazz pianist, used to do imitations of other musicians.

Now waiting to learn if she has made the next round, Ms Robinson said, “I love doing Barbra Streisand — I don’t know if she will make it to the semi-finals!”
