
One young Palestinian bystander was killed after Israeli police responded with fire to a rock and firebomb attack on cars driving along Israel’s Route 433 this morning.
An Israeli citizen travelling on a bus and two tourists in a car were injured in the initial assaults, while
a 15-year-old Palestinian was killed and four other Palestinians were wounded when police shot at the attackers.
According to the IDF, Palestinian suspects had poured oil on the highway and thrown stones and firebombs at passing cars near the West Bank Village of Beit Sira and Modi’in.
According to an IDF press release, the Palestinian boy who was killed, Mahmoud Rafat Mahmoud, was an innocent bystander.
An initial probe conducted by the army and released this morning revealed that he had been travelling by car with his family. According to the report, gunfire intended for the assailants ended up hitting Mahmoud’s car, killing him.
The army has said the investigation into the incident will continue.
