When Conan met Bibi

“If you try to give an American dog a cucumber, he would punch you,” Mr O'Brien told Mr Netanyahu

American comedian Conan O’Brien, who is in Israel at the moment to record an episode of his Conan Without Borders television show, met with Israel’s prime minister on Monday and discussed...dog treats.

Benjamin Netanyahu may be facing a raft of corruption allegations, but a video posted on his official Twitter account on Monday featured the prime minister and the late night talk show host chatting over a meal at the prime minister’s residence while feeding cucumber snacks to his dog, Kaya.

“If you try to give an American dog a cucumber, he would punch you,” Mr O'Brien told Mr Netanyahu.

The Prime Minister tried his own jokes, saying that the fluffy white dog was “paler than” the comedian.

In another video posted over the weekend Netanyahu pretends not to know Mr O’Brien and jokes to an off-screen assistant to get back to him when his co-host Stephen Colbert arrives.

Mr Netanyahu changes his tune when he is told that Mr O’Brien has 25 million Twitter followers – in a deliberately over-the-top tone Mr Netanyahu says welcome to “my friend Conan!”

Mr O’Brien has plans to visit Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Tel Aviv, as part of his show.
