An Israeli symphony orchestra came together this year for a joyful musical Seder ahead of Pesach.

Musicians at the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra performed tunes while gathered around the Seder table in a short music video released Thursday. The performance also featured an unexpected guest: the group’s music director Lahav Shani.

The Tel Aviv-based orchestra returned to the stage this month after Israel reopened most of its economy.  The success of the country’s vaccination programme - which has seen more than half its population receive two jabs - has helped it emerge from coronavirus lockdowns.

The orchestra held virtual events in the last year including a concert with actress Dame Helen Mirren. A viral video of a Zoom performance recorded ahead of Pesach drew wide media coverage.
