A UN report has accused Israel of committing the crime against humanity of extermination in Gaza over IDF strikes on schools and religious sites.

The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory claimed that Israel is engaged in a “concerted campaign to obliterate Palestinian life” in relation to the military operations in the Strip.

Israel has previously launched strikes on school compounds, often resulting in civilian casualties. However, it has long maintained that it is targeting Hamas operatives using the site as cover, claiming the terror group has embedded itself in civilian infrastructure.

IDF commanders also insist that they make every effort to minimise collateral casualties, accusing Hamas of using civilians as human shields.
