The London Israeli Film Festival organisers have expressed sadness over the death of Asaf ‘Assi’ Dayan, film director and son of military hero Moshe Dayan.

Dayan died on Thursday in Tel Aviv aged 68.

“Assi was an iconic figure in the Israeli film and television industries, and we are very proud to have been able to show our high regard for him in the retrospective of his work that we screened last year,” said Odelia Haroush, Anat Koren and Patty Hochmann on behalf of the London Israeli Film Festival.

The actor/director won a string of awards and directed 17 films throughout his career. He won Best Director for “Life According to Agfa” (1992), as well as seven other Israeli film awards.
